Are you a clear communicator with a passion for solving complex lending problems using mass volumes of data? This role uses those skills to drive NPV optimized credit risk and lending strategies (from ideation to implementation) at a fast-paced, start-up lender.

THE COMPANY

A fast-paced and innovative Series-B lender with a fascinating and unique consumer lending product. Data lies at the centre of everything here. This is an early hire in an ultra-high calibre business analysis / credit risk analytics function embedded into a collaborative, lean business executing on it’s high growth strategy.

THE ROLE

  • Drive data-driven business strategy focused around core lending and credit risk problems
  • Underpin strategies with NPV methodology
  • Work cross functionally and with a variety of stakeholder to deliver strategic lending and credit risk changes to help the business optimise for growth and risk
  • Hands on role using SQL and Python to interrogate data, work with models etc
  • Opportunity to lead a small team of exceptional analysts as the business grows

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience solving credit risk or similar data-driven problems in a consumer lending environment
  • Experience driving strategy within a consumer lending environment
  • Strong grounding in NPV-drive decision making
  • Strong background in data including using SQL daily. Python is beneficial
  • Examples of exceptional performance or high level of positive impact in previous role(s)
  • Strong academic background can be a positive indicator of successful candidates

We’re looking for a Staff Finance Data Analyst to take charge of financial analytics initiatives, bridging the gap between Finance and Data teams. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in creating trusted financial models, designing impactful forecasts, and delivering strategic insights that will guide key business decisions and fuel our continued growth.

What You’ll Do:

  • Model Usage-Based Economics: Build and maintain dbt models in Snowflake, transforming raw product telemetry into clear financial views (ARR, margin, unit economics).
  • Forecast & Scenario Analysis: Use Python-driven Monte Carlo and statistical models to forecast revenue, costs, and gross margin under multiple scenarios.
  • Lead Variance & Root-Cause Analysis: Dive deep into revenue, COGS, and operating expenses, explaining plan vs. actual variances and identifying key business drivers.
  • Simulate Pricing & Packaging Changes: Collaborate with Product Monetization to model the impact of new pricing tiers, overage bands, and feature gates.
  • Automate Financial Reporting: Develop self-serve dashboards (e.g., Hex, Mode, Looker) trusted by Finance, ELT, and Board stakeholders during the month-end close.
  • Enhance Data Quality: Define and implement data-quality SLAs, ensuring that all revenue and cost metrics are fully auditable.
  • Mentor & Guide: Provide best-practice guidance on dbt design patterns, Snowflake optimization, and Python analytical tooling for analysts and engineers.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 7+ years in analytics or data science roles, with a focus on finance (experience with SaaS or usage-based business models preferred).
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with dbt (production models, testing, CI/CD) and Snowflake (performance tuning, RBAC, cost management).
  • Advanced Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (pandas, scipy/statsmodels, Prophet) for forecasting, scenario modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Business Intelligence Tools: Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Hex, Mode, Tableau.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of SaaS/cloud economics including MRR/ARR, COGS allocation, gross margin, LTV/CAC, churn, and cohort retention.
  • Experience in Usage-Based Pricing: Proven track record in building usage-based pricing models and forecasting frameworks from raw event data.
  • Strong Communicator: Ability to convey complex data insights to executive audiences and collaborate effectively with engineers.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
