The Role
You will take ownership of building the group's shared data platform and AI-native architecture. You will contribute both strategically and hands-on, with a strong focus on delivery and impact.
- Design and build a unified data layer, including entity graph, provenance, quality, and APIs
- Deliver production-ready systems and modern APIs that connect data across multiple business units
- Lead the technical integration of acquisitions, including data, access, and observability
- Hire and grow a small team of AI-native engineers, driving a high-performance delivery culture
- Define and document architectural standards and AI engineering practices
- Work closely with senior leadership, contributing to technical strategy and decision-making
- Produce clear documentation and run regular demonstrations of progress

The Role
Seeking a senior Platform Systems Architect to define and design the foundational infrastructure platform that internal teams depend on. This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for end to end platform architecture across compute, storage, networking, and core platform services.
You will work across both on premises and public cloud environments to deliver a unified, scalable, and reliable platform. This is a hands-on architecture role, suited for someone who has designed and built large distributed systems, not just documented or managed them.
What You Will Do
- Design end to end platform architectures across compute, storage, networking, and platform services
- Define and maintain enterprise standards, reference architectures, and design patterns
- Architect hybrid environments spanning data centers and public cloud platforms
- Design and support Kubernetes based platforms (OpenShift, Rancher, or similar)

Their centralised engineering function supports critical areas including finance, risk and compliance. The business is investing heavily in data platform convergence, governance and regulatory readiness, with a clear mandate to standardise and unify data across the organisation. The Role
You will lead the design and delivery of modern data engineering platforms that enable consistent, governed financial data across multiple business units. Your responsibilities will include:
* Leading architecture and development of scalable data pipelines and platforms
* Driving data standardisation across finance, risk and treasury functions
* Improving data lineage, governance and regulatory reporting alignment
* Acting as a hands-on technical lead, including code reviews and system design
* Supporting the adoption of cloud-based data platforms using AWS and distributed processing tools
Your Skills & Experience
* Strong commercial experience in data engineering and backend systems
* Expertise in distributed data processing using Spark or similar technologies
* Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS and tools such as Databricks or Glue
* Proven capability in designing data models for financial or regulatory systems
* Strong system design and architecture skills
* Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams in complex environments
* Background in financial services or another highly regulated domain
