As part of a wider transformation programme, they are consolidating legacy data environments and adopting a more scalable, cloud-first approach. Their data engineering function is central to this journey, with a strong focus on modern platforms, automation and best practice. This contract offers the chance to contribute to a high-profile migration project with clear objectives and tangible outcomes.
The Role and Deliverables
  • Lead the migration of legacy data workloads from Amazon Redshift to Snowflake.
  • Assess existing data pipelines and define the most effective migration approach.
  • Refactor and modernise Python-based data processes, moving ETL workflows towards ELT architectures.
  • Use Apache Airflow to manage and migrate data orchestration workflows.
  • Support infrastructure modernisation through Terraform, Docker and cloud engineering best practices.
  • Deliver robust, scalable and maintainable data solutions while owning the migration workstream from assessment through to implementation.
Your Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience in Data Engineering within cloud-based environments.
  • Advanced Python skills, with the ability to understand, optimise and modernise complex or legacy codebases.
  • Strong experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
  • Experience using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
  • Commercial experience with Docker and containerised environments.
  • Strong understanding of ETL and ELT architectures and modern data engineering practices.
  • Experience working across cloud infrastructure and DevOps environments.
  • Ability to evaluate legacy data solutions and make pragmatic migration decisions.
  • Experience working with Snowflake, AWS, Redshift or large-scale platform modernisation programmes would be beneficial.
  • Comfortable working independently, taking ownership and proactively solving technical challenges.
