Senior Data Architect
Dallas, Texas | Onsite 4 Days per Week
$150,000 – $170,000 Base + Annual Bonus
Harnham is partnering with a leading financial services organization to hire a Senior Data Architect who will help shape the future of its enterprise data environment.
Operating across multiple business lines and a large, complex technology landscape, the organization is investing in the modernization of its data platform and the architecture required to support both current business needs and its longer-term AI strategy.
The Role
As a Senior Data Architect, you will help define how the organization moves from its current data environment toward a modern, scalable target-state architecture.
You will assess existing platforms and patterns, identify architectural gaps and constraints, define future and interim states, and establish migration roadmaps that engineering teams can execute against.
A key part of the position will be creating reusable architectural patterns and reference architectures across batch, near-real-time, and real-time data environments. You will work closely with engineering and business stakeholders across multiple areas of the organization to ensure architecture decisions balance scalability, performance, security, cost, risk, and business priorities.
This is not a purely conceptual architecture position. The team is looking for someone who can remain technically close to implementation, provide meaningful technical recommendations, challenge engineering designs, and help ensure architectural decisions translate effectively into production.
Key Responsibilities
- Define current-state, target-state, and interim data architectures and associated migration roadmaps.
- Develop reusable architecture patterns and reference architectures across batch, near-real-time, and real-time data workloads.
- Architect scalable cloud data solutions across AWS, Snowflake, and Kafka.
- Evaluate architectural options based on business impact, scalability, cost, risk, security, and implementation timelines.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to translate architecture strategy into production solutions.
- Establish and promote standards around data governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, and security.
- Support automation, CI/CD, and repeatable engineering practices across the data ecosystem.
- Provide technical guidance throughout implementation and validate that solutions align with established architectural standards.
- Help evolve the underlying data architecture to support emerging AI capabilities, including RAG, vector databases, MCP, and agentic AI.
What We Are Looking For
- Significant experience in Data Architecture, Enterprise Data Architecture, Cloud Data Architecture, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms within large, complex organizations.
- Hands-on architectural experience with AWS and modern cloud data environments.
- Strong experience with Snowflake.
- Experience designing Kafka-based, event-driven, or real-time data architectures.
- Demonstrated experience defining target-state architectures and developing practical roadmaps from current to future state.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, and enterprise data standards.
- Ability to work closely with engineering teams and remain technically involved beyond high-level architecture and documentation.
- Experience evaluating architectural trade-offs and communicating technical recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Previous data engineering or software engineering experience is highly valued.
- Exposure to RAG, vector databases, agentic AI, or other modern AI architecture concepts is beneficial but not required.
Why Join
This is an opportunity to have direct influence over the long-term direction of a large enterprise data platform rather than simply maintaining an established architecture.
You will have visibility across multiple business areas, contribute to foundational architecture decisions, and help establish the standards and patterns that engineering teams will use as the organization continues its cloud and AI transformation.
The position offers significant scope for end-to-end ownership while remaining close to the technical decisions that determine how the platform is ultimately built and operated.
Location
This position is based in the Dallas, Texas area and requires four days per week onsite.
Compensation
$150,000 – $170,000 base salary plus a 10% annual bonus.
