Build the Next Generation of SMB Lending

A high-growth SMB lender is looking for a senior credit leader to help shape the future of its credit operating system.

The business has already built strong foundations across underwriting, portfolio management, and risk governance. This isn't a turnaround story or a traditional "keep the lights on" credit role.

The next chapter is about:

  • Growth in risky segments
  • New products
  • Smarter underwriting
  • Deeper use of machine learning
  • Automated decisioning
  • Better portfolio intelligence
  • Faster translation of data into action

We're looking for someone who sits comfortably at the intersection of credit strategy, analytics, and data science.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own credit strategy across originations, portfolio management, and customer lifecycle
  • Lead Data Science to build, deploy, and optimize ML-driven decisioning
  • Turn portfolio insights into pricing, limit, and policy decisions
  • Drive experimentation frameworks, monitoring, and continuous strategy improvement
  • Influence how underwriting evolves as the business scales
  • Help lead and develop a growing team spanning credit, analytics, and data science
  • Work directly with senior leadership on growth, profitability, and risk appetite

What We're Looking For

You don't need to be a hands-on data scientist today, but you should be comfortable operating in model-driven environments.

Typically, successful backgrounds include a mix of Credit Strategy & Data Science, making this search difficuly. If you have lived across htese worlds this world is perfect for you.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Experience within fintech, lending, embedded finance, cards, or SMB finance
  • Successful ownership of credit strategy in a growth environment
  • Strong understanding of ML-driven underwriting and portfolio analytics
  • Exposure to alternative data, cash-flow underwriting, or transaction-based decisioning
  • Experience owning growth vs loss trade-offs
  • Ability to challenge and guide Data Science teams, not just consume their outputs

Why This Role?

  • Founder-led business
  • Significant executive visibility
  • Ability to influence company strategy
  • High degree of autonomy
  • Real investment in data, analytics, and ML
  • Opportunity to help define what credit decisioning looks like over the next several years

This is a role for someone who enjoys building, not maintaining.
