Senior Director, Supply Chain Planning Technology

Location: Dallas, TX
Work Setup: Onsite, 5 days per week
Compensation: $250,000-$280,000 base salary + bonus + equity

A global manufacturing organization is hiring a senior technology leader to drive the transformation of its supply chain planning capabilities. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on modernizing the systems, data, and processes that support demand planning, supply planning, inventory optimization, capacity planning, and factory execution.

This person will sit at the intersection of IT, supply chain planning, and manufacturing operations, owning the technology vision and roadmap for advanced planning platforms while partnering closely with business, operations, manufacturing, and executive stakeholders.

This is not a pure IT delivery role, and it is not a traditional supply chain operations role. The ideal candidate has led large-scale planning systems transformations in complex manufacturing environments and can speak fluently across planning, technology architecture, data, and shop-floor realities.

What You'll Own

You will lead the strategy, roadmap, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise supply chain planning platforms and capabilities.

Key areas of ownership include:

  • Demand forecasting and demand sensing
  • Enterprise supply planning
  • Capacity planning
  • Factory start planning
  • Order scheduling
  • Inventory optimization
  • S&OP / IBP process enablement
  • Planning platform modernization
  • ERP, MES, and planning system integration
  • Master data governance and data quality
  • Advanced analytics, AI/ML, and automation opportunities

You will help the organization answer critical planning questions:

  • What demand should we trust?
  • What can we realistically build?
  • Where do we have capacity constraints?
  • How much inventory should we hold?
  • How do we improve customer availability without overbuilding?
  • How do planning systems better support manufacturing execution?

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a multi-year technology roadmap for supply chain planning systems.
  • Own the architecture, implementation, integration, operations, and ongoing enhancement of planning platforms.
  • Lead transformation initiatives across demand planning, supply planning, factory planning, order scheduling, inventory optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Partner with manufacturing operations to ensure planning outputs reflect real-world constraints, capacity, materials, changeovers, and production schedules.
  • Drive better demand signals, inventory decisions, and supply plans through data, analytics, automation, and modern planning tools.
  • Ensure planning systems are tightly integrated with ERP, MES, manufacturing, logistics, finance, and broader supply chain systems.
  • Establish strong master data governance and planning data integrity across systems.
  • Work closely with supply chain planners, manufacturing leaders, IT teams, vendors, and senior executives.
  • Lead change management, training, adoption, and communication for major planning transformation initiatives.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams, including managers and technical/functional planning systems talent.
  • Define future skillsets needed across planning technology teams and support upskilling and capability development.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience delivering advanced supply chain planning solutions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in planning systems such as Kinaxis RapidResponse, Blue Yonder/JDA, SAP IBP, SAP APO, o9, Oracle SCM Planning, Oracle ASCP, or similar platforms.
  • Experience leading large-scale planning transformation, platform implementation, roadmap development, system integration, and post-go-live optimization.
  • Strong understanding of demand forecasting, supply planning, capacity planning, factory planning, order scheduling, inventory optimization, and S&OP / IBP.
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing constraints, capacity, changeovers, materials availability, production scheduling, and shop-floor realities.
  • Ability to work across IT, supply chain, operations, manufacturing, finance, and executive leadership.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, enterprise systems, data flows, integrations, master data, and good system design.
  • Experience using data, analytics, AI/ML, or automation to improve planning decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead leaders, develop teams, manage vendors, and drive transformation across a complex organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Ideal Background

The strongest candidates will likely come from complex manufacturing environments such as:

  • Semiconductor
  • Electronics manufacturing
  • Medical device
  • Aerospace and defense
  • Automotive
  • Industrial manufacturing
  • High-volume or highly constrained manufacturing

Experience in semiconductor or electronics manufacturing is highly preferred, especially where planning is closely tied to factory capacity, material constraints, and production execution.

Why This Role Is Compelling

This is a rare opportunity to own a critical enterprise planning technology function at scale. The organization is investing heavily in modernizing how it plans demand, supply, inventory, and manufacturing capacity. You will have the visibility, resources, and executive support to shape the planning technology roadmap and drive measurable business impact.

This role is best suited for someone who wants to own the "planning engine" behind a complex manufacturing business - the systems and data that help determine what gets built, when it gets built, how inventory is optimized, and how customers are served.
