Silicon Republic: 5 AI and machine learning (ML) trends to watch in 2022In this piece, Silicon Republic talks to Verne Global’s CTO, Tate Cantrell, about how the AI landscape has changed so far and what he sees coming next for the industry.Cantrell said a key trend in the AI space has been its convergence with high-performance computing: “This powerful combination is pushing the boundaries of scientific research. Remote working has introduced so many benefits to the workforce, from promoting a healthier work-life balance to lowering stress levels and enabling better productivity. However, as we adapt to this new way of working, it’s important for businesses to create safe and secure working environments and networks. According to the IFR, we saw $13.2 billion worth of new robot installations in 2020 alone. This industry is booming as robotics becomes more complex and engineers develop more innovative elements to aid automation.Using robot density, the measure of the number of robots per 10,000 workers in an industry, the IFR have reported that numbers have almost doubled from 2015 to 2020 worldwide.
