Overview

A growing healthcare technology organisation is seeking an experienced Healthcare Data Research Analyst to bridge the gap between healthcare domain expertise, data analysis, research, and product development.
This position focuses on investigating complex healthcare questions, interpreting policy and regulatory requirements, evaluating healthcare datasets, and creating clear, defensible data definitions that can be leveraged by product, engineering, analytics, and AI teams. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving difficult research problems, and can translate healthcare concepts into structured analytical logic.
The role has a strong emphasis on public healthcare programs, healthcare claims data, program integrity initiatives, and service delivery analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research healthcare regulations, policy guidance, program documentation, clinical concepts, and external data sources to answer business and product questions.
  • Translate healthcare policies and operational requirements into structured data definitions, rules, and analytical frameworks.
  • Evaluate claims, encounter, eligibility, enrollment, and related healthcare datasets to identify meaningful cohorts, utilisation patterns, services, and outcomes.
  • Validate research findings and business definitions through data analysis and testing.
  • Assess potential external data sources that could enhance analytical capabilities or product functionality.
  • Develop and test SQL-based logic to explore datasets and validate assumptions.
  • Produce detailed documentation explaining methodologies, definitions, assumptions, and validation results.
  • Present and defend analytical approaches and findings to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support research, experimentation, and early-stage product development initiatives.
  • Help transform ambiguous business questions into clear technical and analytical requirements.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, AI/ML, analytics, and customer-facing teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the relationship between healthcare policy, operational processes, and healthcare data.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare analytics, healthcare research, healthcare informatics, clinical analytics, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of public healthcare program data, including claims, encounters, eligibility, enrollment, and healthcare coding systems.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare delivery models, services, and reimbursement concepts.
  • Experience interpreting healthcare regulations, program guidance, policy documents, or clinical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert policy requirements and healthcare concepts into analytical logic and data definitions.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large structured datasets.
  • Strong Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to document, explain, and defend analytical decisions.
  • Experience working independently with ambiguous or loosely defined business challenges.
  • Strong investigative mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must be legally authorised to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with home and community-based healthcare services or related care delivery models.
  • Experience supporting program integrity, compliance monitoring, fraud detection, waste reduction, or abuse prevention initiatives.
  • Familiarity with state or public healthcare systems.
  • Background researching healthcare policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience addressing healthcare data quality and governance challenges.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, or large language model technologies.
