Salary: Up to $275,000 + bonus

Overview

We are seeking a Director of Critical Facilities Operations to lead mission-critical infrastructure across multiple data center sites or a large campus environment. This role is responsible for operational excellence, up-time, and long-term reliability strategy, while managing teams of managers, engineers, and third-party partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead critical facilities operations across a campus or multi-site portfolio
  • Own delivery of 99.999% uptime and SLA performance across all environments
  • Oversee layered leadership teams (facility managers, engineers, and technicians)
  • Drive preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure system reliability
  • Establish and lead incident management and RCA programs with enterprise-level rigor
  • Develop and enforce operational standards, safety programs, and compliance frameworks
  • Manage relationships with key vendors, OEMs, and service providers
  • Partner with engineering, construction, and capacity planning teams on expansions and retrofits
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives for facilities operations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, reliability engineering best practices)

Required Skills

  • 10-15+ years in critical facilities, data center, or mission-critical infrastructure operations
  • Proven leadership of large-scale environments (campus or multi-site)
  • Deep expertise in electrical and mechanical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, HVAC)
  • Strong experience with uptime management, SLA ownership, and incident response frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to manage managers and cross-functional leadership teams
  • Expertise in maintenance strategy (preventative, predictive, CMMS systems)
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and regulatory compliance
  • Financial acumen with experience managing operating budgets and vendor contracts
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise-scale data center environments
  • Certifications such as PMP, CFM, or relevant engineering credentials
  • Background in operational excellence methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
