This is a standout opportunity to take ownership of machine learning engineering within a growing data and AI function that has strong internal backing and real-world impact. You will lead the delivery of production-grade ML solutions, shaping best practice while helping scale capability across the wider team, with a clear pathway into a long-term permanent role.

THE COMPANY
They are a large, well-established UK organisation operating in a complex, highly regulated environment, with a strong reputation for quality, trust and long-term client relationships. The business is investing significantly in cloud, data and AI to modernise how it uses and commercialises information. This role is offered initially as a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity for it to become a long-term, permanent position within the organisation.

THE ROLE

  • Lead the ML engineering capability, owning end-to-end delivery of production ML solutions.
  • Design and build scalable ML pipelines aligned to business strategy and cloud best practice.
  • Productionise existing proof-of-concepts, including complex NLP and LLM-based use cases.
  • Implement and embed MLOps standards across deployment, monitoring and maintenance.
  • Work closely with data scientists, engineers and stakeholders to translate models into robust data products.
  • Contribute as a technical thought leader within an agile, collaborative engineering team.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong commercial experience as a Machine Learning Engineer with a solid software engineering background.
  • Hands-on delivery using Python, SQL, Azure and Databricks in production environments.
  • Practical experience with NLP, LLMs and fine-tuning models for real-world use cases.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain end-to-end ML pipelines and MLOps workflows.
  • Confidence working with APIs and integrating ML solutions into wider platforms.
  • Comfortable engaging with stakeholders and supporting data science initiatives.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Salary of £90,000 to £95,000 depending on experience.
