This is an opportunity to join a major data transformation programme focused on modernising cloud-based analytics platforms and automating critical data processing workflows. You will play a key role in improving scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency by enhancing existing data pipelines and implementing cloud-native orchestration solutions.

The Role and Deliverables
  • Automate existing Python, PySpark, and SQL-based data pipelines to reduce manual intervention and improve operational efficiency.
  • Design, develop, and maintain workflow orchestration solutions using Apache Airflow and cloud-based technologies.
  • Assess and migrate individual pipeline components to the most suitable platforms and services where appropriate.
  • Improve data pipeline performance, monitoring, reliability, and maintainability across the analytics ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and effective data solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across automated workflows while supporting ongoing platform optimisation initiatives.
Your Skills & Experience
  • Strong Python development experience within data engineering or automation environments.
  • Proven expertise with PySpark and distributed data processing frameworks.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large-scale datasets.
  • Strong capability in designing, building, and maintaining automated data pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow, Cloud Composer, Astronomer, or comparable workflow orchestration platforms.
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data engineering best practices.
  • Experience working within cloud-based data environments.
  • Knowledge of Google BigQuery and wider Google Cloud Platform services is advantageous.
  • Experience optimising data workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and deployment automation is beneficial.
