Overview
We are partnering with an innovative technology organization seeking a Principal Platform Architect / Senior Platform Engineer to help define and evolve the foundational infrastructure powering the company's next generation of applications and services.
This is a highly technical individual contributor role focused on architecture and building a scalable hybrid cloud platform that enables engineering teams to rapidly deploy, operate, and scale mission-critical applications. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic technical leader, designing the blueprint for the platform that underpins the organization's software ecosystem.
The environment combines private cloud, public cloud, and on-premises infrastructure, requiring a hands-on architect who can bridge infrastructure, cloud platforms, developer experience, and large-scale distributed systems.
What You'll Do
Define and evolve the architectural vision for a modern hybrid cloud platform spanning private, public, and on-premises environments.
Design the foundational infrastructure and platform capabilities that support application development across the organization.
Build and enhance internal platform products and self-service capabilities used by engineering teams.
Drive platform engineering best practices, automation strategies, and infrastructure standardization.
Partner with software, infrastructure, and cloud engineering teams to deliver scalable and reliable platform services.
Architect solutions supporting high-performance computing, GPU-enabled workloads, and data-intensive applications.
Lead Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives to automate provisioning, deployment, and operational processes.
Evaluate and implement technologies that improve scalability, reliability, developer productivity, and operational efficiency.
Provide technical leadership on container orchestration, cloud-native architectures, and distributed systems.
What We're Looking For
10+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, cloud architecture, or related disciplines.
Experience designing and operating large-scale hybrid cloud environments.
Deep expertise with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or similar).
Strong experience with Kubernetes and enterprise container platforms such as OpenShift, Rancher, or comparable technologies.
Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
Strong understanding of private cloud and on-premises infrastructure architectures.
Experience supporting high-performance computing (HPC) and/or GPU-based environments.
Familiarity with large-scale data processing and streaming technologies such as Kafka and Spark.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, observability, reliability, and platform operations.
Proven ability to architect platforms used by large engineering organizations.
Preferred Background
Experience building internal developer platforms or platform-as-a-product environments.
Experience within large technology organizations or enterprise-scale environments.
Exposure to modern data infrastructure, real-time streaming systems, and AI/ML infrastructure.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence architecture decisions across multiple engineering teams.
Why This Role?
This opportunity is ideal for an architect-level engineer who enjoys designing the foundation that other engineers build upon. You'll have significant influence over platform strategy, cloud architecture, infrastructure modernization, and the developer experience across a highly technical organization.
