Staff Data Engineer

Location: Remote, USA

Salary: $180,000 to $210,000 USD

This is a high-impact Staff Data Engineer role where you will help shape and deliver modern, enterprise-scale data platforms. You will play a key part in defining architecture, driving best practices, and enabling AI-ready data systems that support real production use cases.

The Role

  • Design and deliver scalable data platforms across pipelines, warehouses, and data lakes
  • Build and optimise batch and real-time data pipelines
  • Define and enforce data governance, quality, and compliance standards
  • Support the design of data systems for AI and machine learning, including embeddings and feature pipelines
  • Improve platform performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and CI/CD processes for data systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data solutions
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practice

Your Skills and Experience

  • Strong commercial experience building and scaling distributed data systems
  • Expertise in Python, SQL, and either Scala or a similar language
  • Deep knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and data warehousing
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration and processing
  • Strong experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub
  • Solid understanding of data modelling, transformation, and governance frameworks
  • Experience working with containerised environments and CI/CD pipelines
  • Hands-on experience supporting AI and machine learning data workflows
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
