Senior Data Scientist

You will build, configure, and continuously improve the models that power our platform-from audience scoring and lookalike modeling to bid optimization and causal measurement-while owning their performance in production. This includes diagnosing model drift, running lift analyses, tuning configurations for client-specific challenges, and feeding field learnings back into the modeling lifecycle. Contextual targeting and NLP-driven modeling are key areas of focus and growth. You will partner closely with engineering, product, and client teams and must be equally comfortable investigating real-world model behavior and prototyping the next iteration. The ideal candidate writes production-grade code, thinks in experimentation frameworks, and understands how digital ad campaigns operate in practice.

Key Responsibilities

Modeling, Experimentation & Production Ownership

  • Build, configure, and improve models across Chalice's core products and own end-to-end production performance
  • Design and execute robust experimentation frameworks using real-world campaign data
  • Diagnose model drift, performance issues, and edge cases in live environments
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, feature engineering workflows, and model configurations using Python, PySpark, and MLflow on Databricks
  • Prototype and deploy agentic AI systems that extend product capabilities

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Product Impact

  • Serve as the data science subject matter expert across product and client teams
  • Translate model outputs and campaign KPIs into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Surface field learnings, feature gaps, and performance insights to inform the DS roadmap
  • Contribute to research initiatives, internal tooling, and data science best practices

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data science or machine learning roles (Master's preferred)
  • Experience with NLP, contextual modeling, or embedding-based approaches
  • Proven ability to write production-grade, testable code beyond notebooks
  • Strong proficiency in Python and large-scale data processing (PySpark, SQL)
  • Experience with modeling libraries such as PyTorch and scikit-learn
  • Hands-on experience working in Databricks and/or AWS environments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Strong foundation in statistical analysis, causal inference, and experimentation design
  • Familiarity with MLflow (experiment tracking and model registry)
  • Experience in adtech or digital advertising environments
  • Experience building agentic AI workflows, LLM-based systems, or tool-use orchestration
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions) and software packaging best practices

Our Tech Stack

  • ML Frameworks: PyTorch, scikit-learn, Ray (Train, Tune, Datasets), PySpark ML
  • Data Platform: Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog), Snowflake, AWS (S3, EC2)
  • MLOps: MLflow (experiment tracking, model registry), GitHub Actions
  • Languages: Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript
