Harnham is partnered with a fast-growing, private equity firm that has billion-dollar portfolio companies. They are looking for their first Director of AI to build machine learning models and help support efforts in advising clients on strategy transformation. You will leverage NLP and machine learning skills, working directly with internal and external clients to advance their business processes. This is a hands-on position, which will grow out a team over the next year.
THE ROLE
- Collaborate with the engineering team to find solutions for clients through ML-based initiatives.
- Work on initiatives across investment risk, compliance and internal company AI automation
- Build out machine learning/LLM products in first several months with the opportunity to build out an AI team around you.
- Support clients in developing and monitoring KPIs through NLP/LLM and ML solutions that align with project demands.
- Create solutions for clients to remain competitive in their respective industries through the use of NLP/LLM to leverage new customer opportunities.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
A successful Director of Applied AI will likely have the following skills and experience:
- 7+ commercial years of experience
- College degree in a quantitative, STEM field
- Track record of communicating with and managing non-technical stakeholders
- Experience leading projects end-to-end and mentoring junior team members (direct reports are ideal, but not required)
- History of building machine learning and NLP models: text summarization, classification, entity extraction, etc.
- Prior management consulting experience preferred
- Expert in Python and experience with common NLP packages: spaCy, NLTK, gensim, BERT, etc.
- Exposure to visualization tools
- Proficiency in Azure cloud platform preferred, but not required

ML & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer – Pioneering AI in 3D
London (1-2 Days per week in Office)
Up to £200,000 (Potentially more) + Equity
I’m working with a cutting-edge startup that’s building a frontier 3D foundation model at the intersection of AI, computer vision, and spatial computing. Their mission is bold: to transform industries like robotics, AR/VR, gaming, and film by redefining how 3D content is generated and experienced.
They’re now looking for a ML & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer who can design, build, and maintain the backbone that powers these ambitious workloads. This is an opportunity to be part of a deep-tech team at the forefront of the AI revolution in 3D.

What you’ll be doing:

Designing and deploying scalable, high-performance cloud infrastructure for ML workloads.

Managing cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and setting up ML nodes for both local development and distributed training.

Optimizing storage systems to handle big data for ML.

Building and scaling containerized applications with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.

Responding to production incidents and driving long-term solutions.

Working closely with ML engineers to orchestrate smooth development and production workflows.
What they’re looking for:

3+ years’ experience in a cloud-related role (ML-related is a big plus).

Strong scripting ability (Bash, Python, PowerShell, etc.) for automation.

Hands-on experience with containerization & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).

Skilled in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Bonus points for:

Familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch, Jupyter).

Knowledge of cloud monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).

Experience with cloud-based databases (RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Spanner, etc.).

Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., CircleCI).
