HYBRID - ONCE A MONTH IN LONDON

THE COMPANY:

This company is seeking an experienced data engineer to join the team and help them achieve their mission of making the lives of millions of parents easier. They are a leading provider of resources and support for parents and offer a range of products and services to help them along their parenting journey.

THE ROLE:

As a data engineer, you will be responsible for transforming raw data into useful data systems that will improve the efficiency and alignment of their data systems with business goals. You will work with various programming languages and methods, such as Machine Learning, to optimise data pipelines and improve the data warehouse.

The role will involve:

  • Lead complex data engineering projects, build infrastructure, and optimise data pipelines using SQL and AWS/GCP technologies
  • Create new and maintain existing ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines
  • Collaborate with data scientists to develop machine learning applications according to requirements
  • Develop and create highly performant APIs that can be consumed to summarise data
  • Design, code, test, and document complex data engineering scripts, applications, and APIs applying software engineering best practices
  • Ensure that agreed standards and tools are applied to achieve well-engineered outcomes
  • Ensure technical solutions support the accessibility, retrievability, security, quality, retention, and ethical handling of specific sets of data

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate should be an adaptable and flexible problem solver with technical expertise and analytical skills.

  • Hands-on experience working with GCP and its associated data products (BigQuery, etc.)
  • Experience using SQL, R, Python, and other languages to solve a wide array of data challenges
  • Experience working with a diverse range of data infrastructure and systems, such as MySQL, BigQuery, etc.
  • Experience of strategies and design approaches for APIs and data pipelines
  • Built and maintained highly scalable, performant APIs
  • Effective collaboration skills to work with multiple teams across the organisation
  • Ability to coach and mentor colleagues
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience is required for this role

THE BENEFITS:

The selected candidate will receive up to £90,000 depending on experience and requirements.
