Head of Strategic Analysis - 12 Month FTC (Maternity Cover)

Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days in office per week)
Salary: £89,000 + 20% bonus + excellent benefits

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Strategic Analysis to join a leading media and publishing organisation during a key period of transformation and growth. This pivotal role sits within the customer engagement and retention team, focusing on shaping pricing strategy, research modelling, scenario planning, and growth initiatives for a flagship subscription-based product.

You will work closely with stakeholders across marketing, finance, and commercial teams to drive strategic decision-making through insight-led analysis. The role involves managing a small team, refining pricing propositions, and ensuring competitiveness across the market while maximising customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead analytical and strategic projects to support subscription growth and retention.

  • Develop and refine pricing and proposition strategies across multiple subscription tiers (digital, student, and specialist packages).

  • Build financial and scenario models to assess the impact of pricing and engagement initiatives.

  • Partner with marketing, product, and finance teams to ensure insights translate into actionable commercial outcomes.

  • Deliver regular reporting and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.

  • Mentor and guide a small team of analysts, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.

  • Use customer data to identify opportunities for growth, retention, and improved lifetime value.

About You

You're commercially minded, proactive, and analytical, with the ability to translate complex data into strategic business insight. You thrive in cross-functional environments and enjoy driving measurable growth through informed pricing and retention strategies.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience in data analysis, commercial strategy, or pricing within a subscription-based or customer-centric business.

  • Proven ability to turn data and insights into clear commercial recommendations.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience working with senior leadership.

  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset - able to assess ROI, value, and growth potential.

  • Advanced Excel and/or BI tool skills (Power BI, Tableau, etc.); SQL knowledge advantageous.

  • Experience managing or mentoring analysts or small teams.

Desirable:

  • Background in media, publishing, or subscription-based industries.

  • Experience in retention, customer lifecycle management, or econometrics.
