Geospatial Insight & Analytics Manager
Location: Leeds (Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office)
Salary: £65,000 + £5,700 car allowance + 13.5% bonus
The Company
A nationally recognised retail and logistics business is looking for a Geospatial Insight & Analytics Manager to join their data function. The team plays a crucial role in using location-based data to drive smarter, faster commercial and customer decisions, and this role will lead high-impact projects across location planning, network design, and targeted marketing.
The Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of how geospatial analytics supports core strategic decisions in a business that owns and operates hundreds of sites across the UK. You will manage one analyst and work closely with senior stakeholders across marketing, operations, and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Spatial Insight & Strategic Decision Support
Translate business questions into geospatial data-driven insight
Use spatial modelling to solve problems around store planning, network optimisation, and targeted customer engagement
Identify whitespace opportunities based on demographics, mobility, and purchasing behaviour
Advanced Geospatial Analytics
Apply tools like Databricks, ArcGIS, SQL, and Python to build models, test hypotheses, and scale geospatial insight
Integrate datasets like HST (High Street Trading), customer segmentation, and footfall into spatial analysis workflows
Conduct segmentation and clustering work to highlight geographical patterns
Stakeholder Engagement & Storytelling
Build dashboards and data visualisations that clearly communicate insights
Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to translate complex spatial data into business recommendations
Present analysis at senior levels and influence investment and location decisions
Leadership & Team Development
Line manage and support a Geospatial Analyst
Contribute to building a geospatial community of practice
Upskill and mentor other team members on geospatial thinking
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Solid background in geospatial analytics or customer insight with a spatial focus
Strong skills in SQL and/or Python
Hands-on with ArcGIS or similar GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, MapInfo, Alteryx)
Experience in building models for location planning, delivery optimisation, or customer segmentation
Confident communicator with the ability to translate data into strategic impact
Desirable:
Experience in retail, logistics, transportation, or infrastructure industries
Familiarity with working in Databricks or similar cloud environments
Understanding of demographic and economic datasets relevant to location modelling
Experience in line management or mentoring

THE ROLE
