Overview

A boutique analytics consultancy is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to lead commercial growth and new client acquisition. The firm specialises in data-driven marketing and analytics solutions for clients in financial services, asset management, and professional education.


The Opportunity

This is a newly created role reporting directly to the founder. You'll build and execute a structured business development function from the ground up - designing strategy, identifying opportunities, and driving new client revenue.

It's a hands-on, entrepreneurial role suited to a commercially minded individual who thrives in a fast-moving, high-impact environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a targeted new business strategy aligned to company growth goals.

  • Identify and engage prospective clients within asset management, financial services, and related industries.

  • Use existing marketing collateral, case studies, and data-led propositions to open new conversations and win new work.

  • Lead the full sales cycle - from lead generation to pitch, negotiation, and close.

  • Work closely with the analytics and delivery teams to ensure proposals align with client needs and project delivery capabilities.

  • Contribute to go-to-market initiatives including advertising, outreach campaigns, and thought leadership.

  • Capture and share market intelligence to inform proposition development and marketing strategy.


About You

Essential Experience

  • 8-10 years' experience in business development, client acquisition, or sales within data, consulting, or marketing services.

  • Proven track record of generating and closing new business in a B2B professional services setting.

  • Understanding of the financial services / asset management ecosystem and how analytics can drive performance and ROI.

  • Strong ability to translate complex or technical propositions into clear commercial outcomes.

  • Experience building or formalising a BD function and introducing structured lead-generation processes.

  • Confident operating at C-suite level and comfortable working autonomously in a small, entrepreneurial team.

Desirable

  • Exposure to wealth management, fintech, or financial advisory clients.

  • Experience selling data, marketing, or technology-driven solutions into regulated industries.

  • Knowledge of adjacent growth areas such as education technology or professional learning services.
