Harnham is partnered with an AI fintech startup in the New York City area. They are looking for an experienced Research Engineer with a background in building production-ready LLMs. This person will sit in their Engineering team and partner with stakeholders across the business.
THE ROLE
- You will build novel machine learning and LLM models to support new and existing platforms in finance
- You will report directly into the VP of Engineering and work closely on technical direction
- Own development of new PoCs and work MLE team to put into production, using millions of pages of data per project
- You will implement and design code and build out to production using various machine learning and LLM techniques
- Potential to grow into thought leader role for LLMs within the business
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful Research Engineer will likely have the following skills and experience:
- 4-6 years of commercial experience preferred with a focus on building production-ready machine learning models
- Experience working in a startup preferred
- Fluent in Python (TensorFlow, PyTorch) for production-grade work
- Commercial experience building novel AI platforms with large datasets preferred
- Cloud experience in AWS preferred
- History of working on models from concept (research) to production / end-to-end
- Familiarity with advanced machine learning approaches relating to large language models / LLMs
- Experience in settings wearing multiple hats
- History of partnering with non-technical stakeholders a plus
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar

Role Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Director of Paid Media to lead and optimize our multi-channel paid media strategy. This pivotal role involves managing substantial advertising budgets ($70-100MM), scaling existing channels, and uncovering new growth opportunities.
Reporting directly to the CMO, you will play a critical role in shaping our media strategy, driving customer acquisition costs (CAC), and maximizing customer lifetime value (LTV).
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of internal members and external partners. Create a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and delivers exceptional business outcomes.
- Budget Optimization: Strategically allocate and optimize advertising budgets across channels and geographies to maximize profitability and drive sustainable growth.
- Channel Management: Oversee and scale existing paid media channels (e.g., Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube) by leveraging data-driven insights and the latest ad-tech. Continuously refine strategies to enhance performance and ROI.
- New Channel Development: Identify, develop, and optimize new paid media channels, including TV, Direct Mail, Snap, and Affiliates, to diversify and expand our media footprint.
- Data-Driven Strategy: Collaborate with the analytics team to uncover trends and insights that inform customer acquisition and lifecycle marketing strategies. Drive the use of data to make informed decisions and optimize campaign performance.
Skills and Experience:
- 7+ years of marketing experience with a proven track record in senior leadership roles.
- Extensive experience managing 8-9 figure budgets on Paid Social (Meta) and Paid Search (Google).
- Required experience in e-commerce and direct-to-consumer brands.
- Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to translate consumer insights into actionable marketing strategies.
