ABOUT THE BUSINESS

This global media organisation operates at significant scale, with a strong presence across North America, Europe, and the UK. The business combines a sophisticated technology platform with a large media and publishing operation, powering high-traffic content sites that reach millions of users worldwide.

The publishing arm of the business focuses on owned and operated digital brands across sport and entertainment, generating revenue primarily through advertising, audience engagement, and emerging subscription models. Data and analytics sit at the heart of how audiences are understood, grown, and monetised.

THE TEAM

You'll join a multidisciplinary analytics function supporting the owned and operated publishing side of the business. The team works closely with editorial, product, commercial, and technology stakeholders and includes analysts, data engineering, and data science capability.

This role is a backfill within a lean but high-impact team, offering visibility across the full publishing ecosystem and exposure to large-scale, high-volume datasets.

THE ROLE

This is a hands-on analytics role focused on understanding audience behaviour, improving engagement, and supporting revenue growth across large content platforms. You'll analyse how users interact with content, test changes to on-site journeys, and help shape decisions around registration, subscriptions, and monetisation.

The role requires someone comfortable working across ambiguity, able to manage stakeholders confidently, and capable of balancing technical delivery with commercial impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Audience & Product Analytics

  • Analyse user behaviour across high-traffic content sites to understand engagement, retention, and return visits.
  • Evaluate registration walls and sign-up flows, assessing their impact on user experience and revenue potential.
  • Support decision-making around subscriptions, premium content, and audience capture strategies.

Engagement & Experimentation

  • Optimise content recirculation, including navigation, "what to read next", internal linking, and dwell time.
  • Design and analyse A/B tests to assess changes to layouts, journeys, and engagement mechanics.
  • Translate experimental results into clear recommendations for product and editorial teams.

Broader Commercial Insight

  • Support ad and monetisation strategy by helping teams understand audience segments and behaviour.
  • Contribute to ad hoc analysis across the business, including forecasting site traffic and evaluating new initiatives.
  • Explore emerging use cases such as AI-driven content enhancements and their impact on engagement.

Data & Reporting

  • Query large-scale datasets within a cloud data warehouse environment.
  • Build and maintain clear, actionable reporting to support product, editorial, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Work with web analytics tools to validate tracking and interpret on-site behaviour.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Strong SQL skills with experience querying large, complex datasets (essential).
  • Experience working with cloud-based data warehouses.
  • Hands-on experience with web or digital analytics; familiarity with Google Analytics is a strong advantage.
  • Comfortable analysing experimentation and A/B testing results.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, push back where needed, and manage expectations with stakeholders.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements.

Nice to Have:

  • Python experience or interest.
  • Background in media, publishing, or agency environments.

WHY APPLY?

  • Work on products with millions of users and genuinely large-scale datasets.
  • Play a key role in shaping audience engagement and monetisation strategy.
  • High-impact role with exposure across product, editorial, and commercial teams.
  • Flexible working, collaborative culture, and strong long-term growth opportunities.
