Join a fast-growing tech startup that's shaping the future of how teams work. Building next-generation workforce intelligence tools that power distributed organizations-helping them work smarter, scale faster, and thrive in hybrid environments. Backed by top-tier investors and driven by innovation, we're looking for a Director of Engineering to lead technical excellence while staying deeply hands-on.

THE ROLE

As Director of Engineering, you'll split your time between technical leadership (80%) and people management (20%). You'll guide architecture, write and review code, and solve high-impact engineering challenges-while mentoring a talented, agile team of 7-15 engineers.

Technical Leadership (80%)

  • Design and evolve architecture for scalable, high-performance systems.
  • Own the code: write, review, debug, and optimize critical services.
  • Build and maintain distributed systems and large-scale data pipelines.
  • Improve system reliability, latency, and throughput with a DevOps mindset.
  • Champion testing, documentation, and clean, maintainable code.
  • Drive automation across monitoring, CI/CD, and incident response.
  • Contribute to open-source efforts aligned with our tech stack.

Team Leadership (20%)

  • Mentor engineers and support their technical and professional growth.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies and ensure on-time, high-quality project delivery.
  • Align engineering efforts with broader business and product goals.
  • Foster a collaborative, transparent, and high-performing team culture.

SJILLS

Experience & Background

  • 7-12 years of experience in hands-on software engineering roles.
  • Strong background in scalable distributed systems and SaaS environments.
  • Previous experience mentoring or leading small engineering teams.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Ruby, Python, or TypeScript (one or more).
  • Deep experience with data pipelines and large-scale data processing.
  • Advocates for engineering best practices, including testing and code quality.

You Might Be a Fit If You…

  • Obsess over uptime, performance, and developer-friendly tools.
  • Can balance trade-offs between shipping fast and building right.
  • Communicate clearly and lead by example.
  • Are the engineer everyone wants on their project.

This is your chance to make a lasting impact at a startup where engineering drives the mission. If you love building great systems and even better teams-let's talk.
