A strong Head of Data Engineering with experience leading large teams and driving migrations to Azure would be a great addition to this company.
THE COMPANY:
We are working with a client in the financial services space offering specialist lending and savings products. They have been investing in their data and are in the middle of a migration moving from legacy infrastructure to Azure.
THE ROLE:
You'll be responsible for a 40-person function split across UK locations and offshore, ensuring mission-critical legacy systems continue to operate while leading the migration to modern Azure-based infrastructure. A Head of Data Engineering will need to:
- Lead and manage a 40-person Data Engineering team across multiple locations (UK and India).
- Manage and decommission four legacy data warehouses, while developing cloud-native solutions in Azure.
- Act as a mentor and technical guide to the wider engineering team during this cloud transition.
- Partner with third-party vendors to maintain and evolve the data estate
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
A successful Head of Data Engineering will have the following skills and experience:
- Strong experience leading legacy-to-cloud data migrations (ideally to Azure).
- Background working with SQL Server in a regulated environment.
- Proven success managing large, distributed engineering teams (including offshore).

Lead Data Operations BI Analyst
Up to £83,000 + 10% bonus
Watford Junction – Hybrid (ideally 3 days per week, 2 in Watford and 1 in London)

The Role
Sitting within the wider Business Intelligence function, this role reports into the BI Data Operations Manager and acts as the technical lead across data monitoring, automation, and issue resolution. You’ll work closely with the offshore team of engineers and analysts, ensuring data pipelines and workflows run seamlessly within an AWS environment.
Day to day, you’ll:
- Oversee end-to-end data operations, ensuring all loads complete successfully and identifying and resolving workflow issues within Airflow
- Manage and triage incident tickets, investigating discrepancies and implementing fixes to maintain data accuracy and performance
- Drive automation initiatives, helping to reduce manual intervention and improve system reliability
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and support BI delivery
- Contribute to continuous improvement within a large-scale data transformation programme
Your Skills and Experience
- 5+ years’ experience across Data Engineering, BI or Data Operations
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Airflow, and Power BI
- Solid understanding of data pipelines, ETL, and debugging within cloud environments
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing or working with offshore teams
- A proactive mindset with a passion for automation and operational efficiency
