DATA ARCHITECT
NORTH LONDON – 3 DAYS PER WEEK
£90,000
Are you a seasoned Data Architect with a passion for designing robust and scalable data solutions in a dynamic B2C environment? This is your chance to join a globally recognised sporting institution, directly impacting how they engage with their worldwide fanbase. We’re looking for a leader who can drive their data strategy forward, blending strong technical expertise with exceptional people skills.
THE COMPANY:
The business a leading sport institution with a rich history and a worldwide fanbase. Their commercial success is intricately linked to performance; when they’re at the top, fan engagement soars, merchandise sales increase, and tickets are in high demand. They’ve seen commercial growth in recent years, building on a period of stability brought by our current leadership.
You’ll find a unique blend of experience and fresh perspectives here. While the business grows, many colleagues have dedicated decades to the organisation, creating a fantastic mix of old and new. While an interest in our sport is helpful, it’s certainly not essential. The team comprises ardent supporters, general sports enthusiasts, and those who simply appreciate a thriving business environment.
THE ROLE:
You’ll join a team of six, comprising a Data Product Owner, Data Analysts and their CRM Analysts. This team is set to expand to nine people, so your leadership and mentorship will be key to the success.
This is a strategic role that puts data at the heart of their supporter-first strategy. You’ll be instrumental in capturing organisational data needs, translating business requirements into clear architectural designs, and articulating the ‘why’ behind data initiatives. While a strong technical background is crucial, this role is also very much business and people-focused, including conducting performance reviews for your team.
The Azure data warehouse has been built in the last few years, which is robust and provides data but this needs improving. They’re also looking to add Databricks, with Unity Catalog, and are keen to optimise its use. They’re moving away from a monolithic stack, adopting GraphQL for the new digital platforms, which will feature ML-driven content recommendations. You’ll take ownership of the data architecture, working closely with our internal IT and DevOps teams, evolving it from its current state to meet our ambitious future goals.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
The ideal Data Architect will have:
- Essential Technologies: Strong hands-on experience with Azure, Databricks, and Microsoft Dynamics.
- Industry Experience: Proven track record in B2C environments such as retail, entertainment, or media.
- Skills: A deep interest in the data element, coupled with a solid engineering background and demonstrable leadership abilities.
- Tenure: We value stability in previous roles; any shorter tenures would be explored during the interview process.
