Winners Trip 2015 - New York

By Talitha Boitel-Gill, Managing Consultant

Another year and another Winner’s Trip saw the lucky consultants take a short break to New York City for a long weekend.

Day 1

We arrived at Heathrow Airport early on Friday morning (although some a lot earlier than others!). Once checked-in, there was the tough decision between duty free shopping at Terminal 5, or a full English breakfast (with beer!).

After a long flight (made slightly more interesting by 10mins of turbulence!) we arrived at JFK ready to take on the city that never sleeps. The first night saw us venture over to Beauty & Essex, an exclusive bar/restaurant hiding behind a pawn shop at 146 Essex Street. The cocktails and food on offer were incredible, offering anything you could want with Whiskey, Gin, Vodka or Champagne. It’s safe to say more than one cocktail was consumed by everyone!

Day 2

Our first full day in New York was a whirlwind of shopping, food, sight-seeing and some questionable dance moves! The girls instantly had a shopping agenda to kick off the day and , to be honest, so did most of the lads! Macy’s, Bloomingdales and Saks were all on the hit list and there was definitely a mountain of shopping bags by the afternoon.

We kicked off the evening with an incredible meal at STK Steakhouse at 1114 Avenue of the Americas where bone-in filets, New York strips and lobster, mac & cheese all made an appearance in great quantities! We then took a short cab ride over to the meatpacking district where a VIP area in the Marquee nightclub was waiting for us. The less said here about the dance moves the better!

Day 3

One word more than any other sums up the beginning of day 3…hungover! The day began with a bit of a recovery period where we all had a much needed American breakfast. Then, following some down-time in the morning, we took a helicopter tour of Manhattan island. This was an absolutely amazing experience where we got to enjoy a birds-eye view of all of New York’s famous landmarks. Some of us found this experience slightly more challenging than others (sorry, Ross!).
In the evening, we ventured down past Wall Street to a classic NYC pizza restaurant for a slightly more chilled evening than the night before, but it was a great way to round off the trip.

Day 4

Our flight was at 19:20 so we had a bit of spare time in the morning to do some last minute sight-seeing and soaking up the last bit of the Big Apple before heading home. A final trip to Bloomingdales and a walk around Central Park were the icing on the cake for the most fantastic trip. It’ll be a hard one to beat!
