If you are a hands-on Product Analytics & Data Science Manager with a highly statistical background in SQL and R/Python, and can build models to predict which products will be the most effective then I have a great opportunity for you to join one the leading analytics teams in the US.

THE COMPANY:

A globally renowned eCommerce business in the heart of New York City that has millions of rows of rich customer engagement data, are looking for an experienced Product Analytics & Data Science leader to come on board to build out their product analytics team, focusing on growth, testing, and product performance, delivering insights into who their customers are, how they engage with the company and creating targeted and efficient communications strategies that will increase new customer acquisition, and reduce retention across all channels.

THE ROLE - Senior Manager Product Analytics & Data Science

As a Senior Manager Product Analytics & Data Science you will be the leader of a multidisciplinary and highly technical team of Data Scientists, User Researchers and Product Analysts who are all technically strong in SQL, and Python/R and answer key business questions about how to personalize, develop and innovate all products and services to ensure customer loyalty and product upsell/cross sell growth. You will:

  • Work with the Director of Data Science to set the strategic vision of the advanced analytics and product growth initiatives, prioritizing projects and ensuring that customer personalization and advanced methodologies are at the forefront of all data-driven decisions made
  • Be a leader; hands on when needed in this innovation team, where you will be focusing on creating new methodologies using customer-rich data to predict the success of products and how customers engage with the brand online, forecasting their growth and conversion using SQL, Python/ R, and delivering insights and recommendations
  • Work with a broad range of hard-to-capture data sets across both online and offline channels to understand customer behaviors, needs, wants and attitudes, turning these into insightful stories that can be used by the product teams to create new personalized products for the individual user

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree educated in Math, Statistics, Operational Research or similar numerical discipline, with a Masters preferred but not essential
  • Strong technical background in SQL, Python/R with the ability to build highly sophisticated models such as time series, regression, decision trees, random forests, xgboost etc
  • Exceptional communicator, with proven capabilities in demonstrating your ability to turn highly complex analyses into stories and customer journeys that can be used by multiple technical and non-technical audiences
  • Background within an eCommerce or retail environment is highly desirable, with the ability to apply complex human behaviors and attitudes to enhance the development of new products or services

BENEFITS:

As a Senior Manager Product Analytics & Data Science you can expect to earn up to $220,000 + benefits (depending on your experience)

Four Ways Advanced Analytics Drives Business Forward

2020 was an unprecedented year for shifting businesses online. Technology, never quite in the background, arrived center stage to help drive transformation in a variety of industries. Though COVID-19 and the US Election still dominates the news, there’s a lot going in the world of Data Science, too. 2020 ramped up efforts in the healthcare industry to combat the pandemic. Cybersecurity is entering a renaissance of sorts as we tackle the misinformation age, but there’s some fun stuff, too. Here a few Data Science trends finding foundation and leverage in 2021. Businesses Kick Data Science into High Gear To stay viable, businesses are kicking their Data Strategy into high gear. From the top down, there will be an estimated increase of Chief Data Scientists to help businesses make critical business decisions from e-commerce to SaaS. Trajectory of Data Analysts Upskilling to Data Scientist  Once relegated to sampling bits of data and leaving others to break it down into workflow, Data Scientists could see a boost of responsibility. The demand for soft skills, upskilling, and cross-training could reduce the need to have Machine Learning and Data Engineers process empowering the Data Scientists to do more. Breaking the Mold With businesses and education moved online, businesses will be challenged to keep employees engaged. Training and education are now available to employees and would-be Data Scientists at home for on-the-job training as they face new technologies being developed, use new tools, and lessened demand on the college degree, but the experience in applying what’s been learned. Their solving big problems with better tools, technologies, and open-source information now available. The push for open access scientific and medical journals along with the global team environment offers a variety of ways in which Data Scientists can come together to focus on problems more efficiently than anyone else. In other news, projects such as the new James Webb Telescope, the open access drive for scientific and medical journals, and the latest space race information, Data Scientists have been busy getting these projects off the ground as well. Though 2020 took us by surprise in so many ways, we took what we had and ran with it. So, as we enter 2021, we’re on a unique footing from Machine Learning and AI to Data Science with the added boost of nuero-and computational science to employ every tool at our disposal.
