Job Title: Research Scientist

Salary Range: $160,000 - $250,000

Location: San Francisco, CA

This opportunity is for someone looking to join a company and make a huge impact by being the first hire for this role and building this team from scratch. You have experience with causal inference or optimization. As well as, classification machine learning.

As a Research Scientist in this team, you will work with a tight-knit Data Science Team in one of the top start-ups. You will have the opportunity to join at an early stage with low risk and a high level of impact.

THE ROLE:

This is a brand new role for this company, allowing you the opportunity to make a huge impact and build this role from scratch, owning it end-to-end! It also allows for the opportunity to grow out your own research scientist team in the future of this role.

• Brand new problem space that allows you to work on an undefined problem of how to optimize user behavior on their app. You will research and develop a brand-new solution to understand user behavior and develop it into a product
• Build a POC and work with software engineers to transform the idea into a full product
• Communicate with PMs and engineers
• Present to leadership teams with top-level management

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must have a Ph.D.
• Tools: Python or R
• 2+ years of industry experience after PhD
• Experience with causal inference or optimization
• Experience with classification machine learning
• Self-starter: ability to work individually without guidance
• Strong communication skills
