Harnham are partnered exclusively with a global player in public health. They are a boutique NGO focusing on delivering the most effective messages to populations in developing countries. They have an expanding research team and are looking for a Research Scientist who is interested in making an international impact to better the lives of millions of people through causal inference.

THE ROLE

• You will be responsible for machine learning, causal discovery and Bayesian model development for support across different areas of the business
• You will report directly into the Director of Data Science and work closely on technical direction
• You will implement and design code and build out to production using various advanced statistical techniques with access to global public health data
• Work cross-functionally with the Product/Research/Engineering teams building models from concept to production
• Role will be responsible for research and client partnership

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful Research Scientist - Causal Inference will likely have the following skills and experience:

• Extensive research history (postdoc or commercial) using causal discovery methodologies
• Heavy experience using R (preferred), Python, Spark, Hadoop and AWS for predictive modeling and data manipulation
• Experience building machine learning (supervised/unsupervised) models
• Experience using observational data for causal analysis necessary
• Global or public health preferred
• Prior experience leading projects is a plus
• History of thinking outside-the-box with minimal direction for project execution
• Experience with analyzing large-scale datasets a plus
• PhD in Statistics, Applied Math or quantitative field using causal inference highly preferred
