My newest client in New York City is a fast growing renewable energy startup. Their mission is be the go-to analytics business for renewable energy around the world! They are now looking for a technical leader, reporting into the Director of Data Science, partner with external clients and mentor junior team members.

THE ROLE

• You will analyze energy data (electric, wind, solar, geothermal, etc.) with machine learning and deep learning techniques to develop better tools to understand areas of optimization
• You will report directly into the Director of Data Science and work closely on technical direction
• You will implement and design code and build out to production using various advanced statistical techniques with access to petabytes of data
• Work closely with the Product/Marketing/Engineering teams building models from concept to production
• Role will be responsible for 80% production grade code, 20% research

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful Principal Data Scientist will likely have the following skills and experience:

• Heavy experience using Python, R, Spark, Hadoop and AWS for predictive modeling and data manipulation
• Commercial experience building machine learning (supervised/unsupervised/reinforcement) models in energy or manufacturing setting
• Prior experience leading projects required
• History building prediction and anomaly detection models highly desired
• Interest in renewable energy preferred
• Bayesian statistics experience required
• Experience with analyzing large-scale datasets a must
• Neural network experience a plus (CNN, RNN, LSTM, etc.); TensorFlow, Keras or PyTorch
• PhD in Computer Science, Structural Engineering or other STEM related field
• Machine Learning expertise required; Deep Learning or Natural Language Processing experience a plus
