Do you have exceptional skills working with Next Generation Sequencing and the microbiome? Use your skills in an industry setting to dive into the environmental microbiome and launch commercial solutions.


As a Bioinformatics Data Scientist, you will be working alongside other brilliant individuals who are dedicated to being on the forefront of bioinformatics innovation and strive to understand their surrounding world to help make it a better place.


As a Bioinformatics Data Scientist, you will be responsible for collaborating with multiple teams and analysing the surrounding microbiome

  • Work in R&D from designing experiments to data analysis and production
  • Microbiome data analysis
  • Read alignment, targeted sequencing, mapping, annotation, and variant calling
  • Develop novel pipelines for analysis
  • Communicate results with people in and out of the field


  • MSc or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Genetics, Computational Biology or a relevant field
  • Extensive experience with vast microbiome data sets
  • Proven commercial experience with large scale genomic data
  • Expert in developing robust bioinformatics pipelines
  • Proven commercial experience in Python*, R, and AWS


As a Bioinformatics Data Scientist, you will receive:

  • $125,000-$160,000 base salary

As business processes shift online, looking for a job requires a different approach than it did six weeks ago. The good news is that leaders, hiring managers, and recruiters are all navigating this new way of doing business and, as a result, are continuing to look for talent to keep those businesses running.  With the shifting landscape of working outside the office, those in Data & Analytics are perfectly placed  to both gain increased knowledge in their chosen fields or and take the next step on their career paths.  So if, you are on the job hunt at the moment, here are our five top tips: NETWORK We may be practicing social distancing and unable to go for a coffee, but with a variety of events shifting online, networking is still a viable strategy. This may also be a good time to reconnect with old friends, old colleagues, and see how you might help each other. Show interest in what they’re doing and engage in a real conversation. Show you value their time and that you can offer value as well. After all, it’s who you know.  DRESS AND PLAN FOR SUCCESS Don’t forget, the basics are still the foundation from which to begin your search. Get dressed and “go to work.” Review and update your resume. Tailor your cover letter to the business you’re applying to. Don’t send your resume scatter shot to anyone hiring. Focus on what interests you and for which you have the skills or can transfer skills from other sectors.  Phone and video interviews have become more commonplace in recent weeks and months. Dress as you would for an in-person interview. Find a quiet area to talk. Practice eye contact. Show interest in the position and don’t be afraid to ask about their hiring timeline. BE THE PROBLEM SOLVER THE BUSINESS NEEDS  If you want to stand out in a slow job market, it’s important to show employers that you can alleviate their frustrations and tackle their challenges. Be the problem solver companies are looking for by consistently conveying, at every step of the hiring process, that you have the experience and expertise necessary to be successful in the role.  BE INDISPENSABLE AND READY TO SHOW YOUR VALUE Communicate and clarify your boss’s needs. Follow through on what you say you’ll do and what you’re given to do. Make coming to you to get the job done a no-brainer. Show empathy to your colleagues and your boss. In an uncertain world, being calm goes a long way.   STAY POSITIVE The market may have evolved over the past few weeks but so have a number of new opportunities. With that in mind, it’s important to stay positive. A mindset shift will help you adapt to new normal and help keep you in the right frame of mind. How To Lead A Remote Team

On the front lines of the remote working lifestyle, they understand the benefits and the challenges businesses new to remote teams are facing. In recent years, some businesses tried offering remote working, then pulled workers back in house. Some offer part-time work-from-home opportunities, but still required a few days in the office. In today’s climate, businesses have been forced to develop remote working strategies and everyone is learning how to manage this new way of doing business. There are a variety of apps and software to help businesses work as close to the old ways as possible. So, as remote workers learn how to balance their personal and professional lives while at home, leaders also must learn how to manage remotely. Below are a few immediate benefits of remote teams for business. These are just a few things to think about when planning for and leading remote teams.  Leading Remote Teams One of the issues remote workers once faced was “out of sight, out of mind” leadership. In an office, it can be easy for a manager to walk past someone and communicate on the fly or for remote workers to feel left out in company events, strategy sessions, or general camaraderie with others in the office. Companies who have always been or are moving to fully virtual teams have now levelled the playing field. However, this change marks just how important communication is for your team. Often, the best managers will check-in regularly. These managers are good listeners who offer feedback, check on progress, and determine if there’s too much workload or if an employee is ready to take on another project. Managers who communicate without micromanaging engage in trust and accountability of their employees. Having this kind of ownership of habits and behaviors can improve productivity and the trust goes both ways. Reach out to everyone on your team regularly. To ensure you’re including everyone when you assign tasks or projects, it’s a good idea to have a list of employees with their photos. Set Clear Boundaries and Guidelines It’s even more important when working from home to set clear hours for working and avoid burnout. Add to this the best methods of communication to use such as a project management app like Slack, a quick text or Skype call, or an email. Don’t forget to make allowances for how things like childcare may be handled as many are not only working from home, but may also be homeschooling, too. Ensuring everyone is clear on when they can turn to colleagues versus when they should reach out to their leaders helps put everyone on the same page.  Keep Everyone Connected Remote working is a lifestyle. But not everyone may be ready for it or have the personality for it. One benefit of the brick-and-mortar office is camaraderie and connection, even if it’s just a smile and wave in the hallway. Even the most resolute remote workers feel lonely and disconnected at times. Staying on task can feel paramount to success, but to meet the new challenges of a virtual team go a little deeper. Not only is it important to make time for personal interaction, but businesses can organize virtual check-ins and fun events. Think Trivia time, funny videos or GIFs, even virtual pizza parties.  It’s important in this time of social distancing and remote working lifestyle to stay connected and engaged with your workforce. It could even make your business stronger and more in sync than ever before. Not only can it be of benefit to your business, but can also offer and open up opportunities for more future employees.
