The Role: We’re seeking a Head of Data Engineer to lead a small team of 5 and build and maintain our data platforms. You’ll use your expertise in Azure, Databricks, Spark, and Python to develop our data engineering capabilities and support our decision-making processes. You’ll also collaborate with other departments to identify and address business challenges.

Your Experience: To be successful in this role, you’ll need excellent technical skills in data engineering and experience managing a team. You’ll have a solid understanding of Azure, Databricks, Spark, and Python and be able to use them to develop and maintain data pipelines. You’ll also be a proactive problem solver and communicator.

We are hiring for a fast-growing Fin Tech company that provides innovative financial solutions to businesses. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineering Leader to join the team and help drive the Azure platform. You would be reporting directly to the CTO of the organisation and you will be leading a group of 5 Data Engineers.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure and data pipelines using Python, SQL, Azure, and Databricks.

Manage a team of data engineers and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and data needs.

Implement best practices for data governance, data quality, data security, and data privacy.

Stay up-to-date with emerging data technologies and industry trends and apply them to our data engineering practices.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements related to data management.

Requirements:

6+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields.

Programming skills in Python and SQL.

Strong experience with Azure cloud platforms and services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, etc.).

Experience with data governance, data quality, data security, and data privacy practices.

Excellent communication, and collaboration skills.

Experience leading teams of Data Engineers using the Azure tech stack

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

THE COMPANY:

You will be joining a squad of 5 Data engineers working within a fiance environment. Working on looking at Data and analytics on loan data to maximize profit. This is a very exciting company to work for and there is a huge area for growth within the team.

THE ROLE:

• Working with junior Data Engineers with 4 direct reports.
• Reviewing reliable and testable code using tools such as CI/CD
• Working within an Agile team to ensure the company’s level of data collection is optimized
• Working with stakeholders to maximize what the company is doing with its Data.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

• Highly proficient in Python programming
• A good understanding of cloud architecture within Azure.
• Experience testing code in CI/CD
• Experience in using Spark to process big data.
