Job Title: Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer

Location: Fully remote - company based in San Francisco, CA.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Machine Learning Platform Engineer with a strong background in software engineering and systems design. You will play a key role in developing and optimizing scalable systems that power real-time ML applications, including pricing, curation, and fraud detection. Working at the intersection of machine learning and infrastructure, you'll handle high-throughput data requests and ensure the stability of mission-critical systems.

Company Information:

Our client is a late-stage e-commerce startup that has a high-traffic, low-latency environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning platforms and infrastructure solutions.
  • Work with scalable systems that process millions of real-time requests per second.
  • Implement and optimize data systems, including Redis, DynamoDB, Kafka, Snowflake, and other databases.
  • Develop systems and workflows for pricing, curation, and fraud detection.
  • Leverage technologies like Temporal and Airflow for workflow orchestration and deployment automation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of ML systems in production.
  • Debug, optimize, and enhance infrastructure to meet performance and reliability goals.
  • Support online/e-commerce operations with scalable, low-latency systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MUST HAVE - infrastructure development of machine learning platforms.
  • Proficiency in AWS or other cloud platforms, and ability to code in Python and SQL.
  • Knowledge and experience in key machine learning technologies like PyTorch, Tensorflow, Scikitlearn, and XGBoost.
  • Strong foundation in software engineering and systems design principles.
  • Experience with NLP systems and infrastructure components.
  • Proven ability to work on high-scale systems in production environments.
  • Familiarity with real-time data processing and workflow orchestration tools.
  • Prior experience in online/e-commerce or similar industries is a plus.
  • Exposure to fraud detection systems is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of best practices for handling large-scale data pipelines.
