Job Title: Junior BI Analyst

Salary: Up to £27,000

Location: Stockport (minimum once a week, but as much as possible in the first month of joining the business)

About the Company:

My client is a nearly 200-year-old financial services company that specialises in family-orientated products, ISAs, insurance, saving schemes, and more. With over 85,000 members and 100 employees, the business has experienced organic growth. The company is smaller in size, providing great exposure to the C-suite.

The Junior BI Analyst role reports to the BI Manager, who has been with the company for 3.5 years. The role will work with the BI Manager and Lead Data Architect, allowing you to have exposure to C-Suite members of the business and really progress within the company.

The Role:

The Junior BI Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Creating SSRS reports, and data sets, and handling ad-hoc tasks across data requests from different departments.
  • Helping transition the company over to a data lake, and from there, the reporting environment will move to Power BI.
  • Work with the Lead Data Architect to determine which reports are most successful and how they can be improved, including adding visualisations, filters, and other features.
  • The analyst will also have the opportunity to get involved in AI projects, which the company is currently exploring. As the company moves towards Microservices, the Junior BI Analyst will have the opportunity to work in that space as well.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Some SQL experience, which can be transferable between Oracle, or Microsoft.
  • They should be comfortable with Power BI or have a background in data visualisation.
  • My client is also looking for someone who is chatty, outgoing, forward-thinking, and friendly, with a strong desire to progress.

Future of this Person:

In the first six months, the Junior BI Analyst will become embedded in the role, understand what requests are coming in, and prioritise their own work. The team is small, and the company is trying to build it out as it relies more on data. The Junior BI Analyst will help map the future of the database, its structure, and more.

The Interview Process:

1. MS Teams meeting with HR and the BI Manager to talk through the role, company, your skills, and experience etc.

2. 90-minute face-to-face interview. This will involve a SQL task (5/10 questions), and a deeper technical understanding of your skills. It'd be great if you could also bring in some examples of data visualizations that you've done in the past!

Benefits:

  • Up to £27,000 base salary
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • 25 days of annual leave
  • An extra day off for your birthday
  • Access to medical support services through Nuffield Health and the National Bereavement Service, which includes access to 24/7 online GP services, discounted gym membership, mental health support, free eye tests, and flu vaccinations.
  • Other company benefits include life insurance, a pension scheme, four paid well-being days, and various social and charitable events throughout the year, including a volunteering day at a charity of your choice.
