The Role:
The role will involve being responsible for overseeing the move from on-perm to off-perm data as well as helping with the development of their data warehouse. The role will also involve the development and maintenance of ETL pipelines as well as understanding data requirements. Additionally, they are looking for someone to help with the migration from on-perm to off-perm as well as the movement to Azure.
Skills & Experience
To qualify for this Data Engineer role, you will require:
· Strong understanding of SQL, Oracle, Kafka, and Python
· Strong ETL experience

This position is for a Data Engineer with experience with cloud migration, to join a manufactured goods distributor and help champion the use of data within the company.
The Company
The company is a distributor of maintenance, repair, and operations tools and equipment to small to medium size businesses. They are placing a lot of emphasis on data; they have recently completed a migration to Power BI, and they are now looking to complete a migration to Azure in the next 3-4 years.
You will be working closely with several different IT departments, such as data science, analysis, and other stakeholders, in order to deploy and develop the data-driven applications.
The Role and Responsibilities
- Overseeing the move from on-prem to off-prem (BigQuery)
- Eventually undertaking migration from BigQuery to Azure
- Developing and maintaining ETL pipelines and data architecture
Your Skills and Experience
- Experience with on-prem to cloud data migrations
- Experience with SQL and Python
- Experience with either AWS, Azure, or BigQuery
- Experience with processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Airflow, or Kafka

THE COMPANY
One of the UK’s leading property developers is hiring for a Head of Data; the FIRST data hire within the business! The business built over 17,000 homes across the UK in 2022, ranging from £70,000 to £1,00,000! The company has a plan to become more data-driven in 2023, really building out its data strategy.
With this being the first data hire, the role reports to the CFO and the IT Director who are currently working to build out the Azure data warehouse and modernise their tech stack.
THE ROLE
The successful Head of Data can expect to be involved in…
- Demonstrating the value that data and analytics, and what it can bring to a business looking to build out a data strategy
- Work closely with the IT Director and the Azure architecture
- Work will initially be through the finance teams, working on FP&A projects, planning, and budgeting
- Financial forecasting and building reports to present to non-technical stakeholders
- Develop the overall data strategy
- Initially be very hands-on with the data, and then growing out a team of data professionals where more managerial responsibilities will be expected. However, teams will NOT start to grow within the next year.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful Head of Data will have…
- 2-3yrs UK experience in a Head of Data position, managing both Data Engineering and Business Intelligence teams
- Experience with building out a data strategy, and working from the ground up
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience leading a team and upskilling others

- Python skills
- Experience using a data visualisation tool such as Power BI
- Azure experience
